    Hi there!

One of my friends is trying to use The Events Calendar on a website that was built using Thrive Architect (another site builder similar to Elementor) and they are experiencing some issues. With the default settings, the plugin is able to render the calendar properly on the slug we select for the Calendar. However, the page with the calendar is missing the site’s header and footer or… any theming for that matter. The entire page is blank except for what the calendar plug-in generates.

When we change the calendar to render against the default posts template, I can see styling on the page, however the calendar renders as an un-formatted, broken mess.

Thrive Architect itself claims that the plugin is attempting to use the “All Archives” template page, which renders correctly when brought up in the post view or when brought up within Thrive itself.

I have disabled speed optimization plug-ins on the site to try to debug this. This is reeking of a compatibility issue between Thrive Architect, the theme which is installed via Thrive (Called Ommi), and the free version of The Events Calendar.

On another website I personally built with The Events Calendar installed, using the built-in WordPress Gutenberg editor and 2025 theme, absolutely no problems!

Any tips or suggestions on what to try?

    Hi @smith6612

Thanks for reaching out — happy to help.

At the moment, we do not yet have full compatibility with FSE (Full Site Editing) themes, and I believe Thrive may already be using an FSE-based structure.

Since the issue does not occur when switching to the Twenty Twenty-Five theme, this strongly points to a compatibility conflict with the Thrive theme.

With that in mind, I’d recommend reaching out to the Thrive support team for further assistance. They may already be familiar with this behavior and could provide a workaround or theme-specific fix for use alongside The Events Calendar.

    Hi Darien,

Apologies for the reply! I had gotten busy the last few days and was unable to respond back. I haven’t been able to discuss this with Thrive Themes support yet. I know one thing Thrive allows a person to do is to insert page resources as “WordPress Content” using text or Shortcodes. I’m aware that the Free version of the plug-in doesn’t support Shortcodes at all, and getting access to any of them would require the Pro version.

I’m not sure what architectural challenges are involved in getting basic calendar functionality to render using a Shortcode, but I am curious if that will work (again, I realize that probably requires Pro even for the basic calendar render). Another Calendar plug-in I tried relies on Shortcodes to call it since it doesn’t follow the concept of a calendar slug, and that is rendering without much of an issue.

    Hi @smith6612

You can try this third-party plugin to render your calendar using shortcode: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/the-events-calendar-shortcode/
