I can’t seem to reproduce that conflict. I installed
WP Hide & Security Enhancer 1.6.2.0.4 and set “New Admin URL” to “customadmin”. Then I tried logging in as an administrator, an author, and an editor. I was able to log in as all of those roles: there were no errors.
The error message that you posted suggests that the admin page that is displayed after a user logs in might be hidden from non-administrator users. Have you made any changes to the “Dashboard -> Home” menu item? If you try to hide this item, any user/role that can’t see it will get an error when they log in. Try clearing the “extra capability” field.
If you’re redirecting users to a different page after log in, the same thing applies to that page. The menu item that corresponds to the post-login page must be accessible.
CHECKED:
No changes to “Dashboard -> Home” menu item
No extra capability added to user
If manually I change to /wp-admin after this error it’s displayed, redirects and works fine to /customadmin. This is weird and happens in 4 different websites I have.
After some additional testing, I have found a potential conflict: if there is a menu item that is not “Dashboard -> Home” but that also links directly to the admin dashboard (e.g. /customadmin/) and not to a .php file that’s part of the dashboard (e.g. /customadmin/options-general.php), the menu editor could incorrectly select that item as the current menu item. So if that other item was hidden, it would behave as if “Dashboard -> Home” was also hidden.
This should now be fixed in the development version. Please give it a try:
