It might improve your conversion rates if you do a check for if site is WPE and then display a notice to install cloud.

That’s interesting, because there IS a check for WPE, but I wonder if they discontinued the constant that EWWW IO checks for. Better check that out!
I tested it on my staging site, and got the warning, just as expected:
“The regular version of the EWWW Image Optimizer plugin is not permitted on WP Engine sites. However, the cloud version has been approved by WP Engine. Please deactivate EWWW Image Optimizer and install EWWW Image Optimizer Cloud to optimize your images.”
Do you not receive that warning when you have the regular EWWW IO plugin installed?
Ah, we are developing on our own staging environment and deploying to live (WPE).
So we didn’t see this warning. I guess this process is likely only used for larger projects, so might be a bit edge case…
I was thinking about a notice at the top, which shows if activated within a WPE install.
