• Hello,
I would like to create a discussion board that is compatible with the front-end only user plugin. At the moment we are using bbPress and it only allows wordpress members to interact with the discussion board. We would like the front-end members to be able to post to this. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi tcksoa,

Thanks for getting in touch! We’re actually in the middle of an update right now that will make the plugin compatible with WordPress users, since we’d had a few requests for similar features. It’s going to be available at some point in March.

Basically what we have in mind is creating an option to have the plugin create WordPress users (and accept WordPress logins) at the same time as FEUP users are created. Users that are created using the plugin would then have a meta field attached to their WordPress user ID to keep track of which users were created in that way, and users with that meta tag on their WordPress account would be redirected when trying to access an admin page.

In terms of doing something similar before then, you’d need to change the FEUP login function to set WordPress auth to a generic WP user on login, and then add custom meta data functions that return the FEUP data instead of the WP data whenever they’re called for that user ID.

Have you guys released an updated version that will handle discussion boards yet? Thanks!

    Hi spykekrepshaw,

Rather than having our plugin handle discussion boards directly, we have created the feature previously mentioned : FEUP is compatible with WordPress users. This way, upon registration on the FEUP, a WP user account may be created and used for the bbPress discussion board. 🙂

    Best regards,

Awesome to hear! Is that only available through the pro version? Because I can’t seem to find it in the lite version.

So, nevermind that last question. I see that it is a pro feature. My next question is this: If I upgrade to the pro version, can I either A) convert all of my 256 users to WordPress users, or B) could I remove all of the users and upload them via .csv file as WordPress users.

I should note that I have yet to deploy my site. Tere is nothing currently tied to the 256 user accounts.

    Hi spykekrepshaw,

Both options are valid. For option A (for lite version), you should be able to convert all your WP users at Options > Basic on the option “Include WordPress Users”. Simply set it to “Yes”. WordPress users will automatically be imported into the plugin.

Option B (premium version) would be to go to Options > Premium at “Create WordPress User” and set it to “Yes”. A WordPress account will be created on registration for each user. This can be used with the login form attribute “wordpress_form” to let users log in to both the FEUP plugin and WordPress at the same time.

Let us know how it works out for you.

    Best regards,
