Hi, I would like to recommend a more general design of displaying a thumbnail, i.e. offering the choice of displaying, either

    • the defined thumbnail, or
    • first image of the content, or
    • first video of the content

    in the first place.
Secondly I would offer the choice of defining a substitution, if the first choice doesn’t work.
The reason for my request is, that I generally define a thumbnail with all my posts, because the standard wordpress archive and search pages but also that of other plugins (e.g. showing excerpts of similar pages) don’t know replacement mechanism of CV. Therefore it would be great if I could display a video in my content view as a thumbnail although there is a thumbnail available.

    Best regards

    Dear Ibado,
    Thank you for your suggestion.
A quite similar function was available in Pro plugin at http://www.contentviewspro.com/: it will get first image/video from the content when no thumbnail was found, and allow you to choose which to display (image or video) if both of things found.
So it is easy to display image/video even if thumbnail was found.

Because it was an advanced feature in Pro plugin, so we can’t add it to this free plugin.
