    Hi,

May I know if this option in the plugin Settings is required?

It is called Request User Data, and you have given a checkbox there to tick to create a page that “Allow your site’s visitors to request their data stored in the WordPress database (comments, WooCommerce orders etc.). Data found is send to their email address and allows them to put in an additional request to have the data anonymised.”

I am not understanding this. Is not this supposed to be a MUST under this GDPR law that a user can request for their data? And if so, why does it seem like this is optional?

I already have a banner that informs all visitors that they must accept cookies to visit my sites, and already have a Privacy Policy Page since many years ago….

Under this GDPR, the difference is the user can “request” their data, am I right?

    Confusing stuff….

Hello @bliss7 If you want to comply with every part of GDPR yes you need the page. We made it an option because we consider it rather impactful to create a whole new page in an existing and live WordPress site.

Under GDPR everyone should be able to view, edit, transfer and delete (anonymise in our case) their data. Right now we make it easy to view and delete (anonymise) data. WordPress 4.9.6 (Core) also allows to transfer.
