• Hi: I have two WordPress sites, both hosted by the same hosting company. Last month, both got hacked. They’re up and running again, but my hosting company urged me to get web application firewall from Sitelock (https://www.sitelock.com/web-application-firewall.php).

It costs about $29 a month per site ($58 total). I’m willing to pay that if I really need it and it’s worth it and there aren’t cheaper alternatives. But do I really need it? Thanks for any suggestions.

  • In my own opinion, you do not need that. BulletProof Security “hardens WordPress” and can do more, WordFence Security throttles traffic and can do more, and NinjaFirewall can run out in front of WordPress to stop certain malicious traffic before it can even get to it. Each of those is free, but I do use the premium version of NinjaFirewall so I can run just one instance ahead of more than one site.
