Do I really need this plugin?

    I’m new to WP and am wondering if I really need to use this plugin for my site? Or are there other plugins that I need to consider?

    Akismet helps protect your site’s comment and contact forms from spam. If your site is going to allow people to leave comments or to gather contact form requests, it’s a great plugin to have.

    Just note that free Akismet keys are for personal, non-commercial sites only. If your site has advertising or affiliate links, sells products or services, solicits donations or sponsorships, or is in any way related to a business or educational organization – your site is considered commercial and needs to have a paid plan.

    I take advantage of your comment to clirify a doubt about the nature of my site and the use of free or premium version of the plugin.
    I manage a corporate site where we show informations about our services, with related request form, but we do not make direct sell (no online transactions, no ecommerce system).
    Is it considered a commercial site?

    Yes. If it’s related to your business – which is sounds like it is – it is considered commercial.
