I thought we used to be able to doc/pin the tool bars in this plugin. Its really a hassle having the tool bar show over the slide you are working on. And the layers/time used to show all the time at the bottom. What happened?

    Hi @sgumby

As far as I know, in old Smart Slider 3 versions, the Add Panel remained open, and would only close if you specifically closed it with the “x” icon. You might mean this behavior, but either way, it wasn’t really a docking feature, it still overlapped the slide, it just didn’t automatically close when you clicked on / dragged a layer, like it does now. The problem with the old system was that it made it hard to add layers where the add panel overlapped the canvas.

If you mean the problem is that you want to quickly drop down layers, but the add panel closes, you could also use “A” on your keyboard to quickly bring it up, so like that you do not need to click on the “+” icon every time.

If you mean that the Layer Window:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PPtkRU7D74&t=270s
overlaps the slide on the canvas, you could use the device selector to change the preview size:
    https://smartslider.helpscoutdocs.com/article/1765-slide-editor#top-menu
to make the slide smaller in the editor.

And if you are looking for the Layer List, it is now part of the Layer Window as you see here:
    https://smartslider.helpscoutdocs.com/article/1815-layer-list

And the Timeline still shows the layers and timings, and you can show/hide it, and it will keep that state:
    https://smartslider.helpscoutdocs.com/article/1817-timeline
However, please note that the Timeline is only available in the Pro version, and if you have any further questions regarding it, or other Pro feature, please rather contact us here:

Because due to the forum guidelines:

we cannot provide support for the Pro version here.

It would be nice to be able to doc it and have the slider not go under the tool bar. And it would be nice to be able to see the layers all the time. AND for people that have trouble with certain toolbar layouts it would be nice to have the option to switch back and forth between these 2 approaches.

    Hi @sgumby

    Toolbar:

Sorry, at this point I am not really sure what you mean exactly by toolbar anymore.

Do you mean the Add Panel ( Add layer )?

Or maybe the layer window ( Layer menu )?

or something else? Could you send us a screenshot where you highlighted the element that you don’t want to “doc”?

Seeing the layers all the time:

As Robert mentioned, in the Pro version we also have the Timeline and there you can see all of the layers all the time. But as he mentioned, we are not allowed to discuss topics about the Pro version on this forum, as per the forum guidelines. So if you want to know more about that, then please open a support ticket:

and we will continue this topic there.

Whatever you call that thing on the right with content, style and animation.

Thank you @sgumby for clarifying it, I see what you mean now.

That is the Layer Window, and actually that is already “docked”. Since anytime you select a layer the Layer window should be there for the selected layer, with the layer specific settings inside ( each layer have its own layer-specific options ).

Of course you can close the layer window by clicking on the “X” icon on the right corner of the layer window, but the next time you activate a layer ( you click on a layer ), the layer window of that layer will be opened.
In addition if the layer window obstructs the visibility of a layer ( e.g it overlaps it ), you can reposition it by grabbing the heading of the layer window ( where you can see the “Heading” text in the documentation: https://smartslider.helpscoutdocs.com/article/1765-slide-editor#layer ) and drag it to another position.
