It is not meant to do anything unless the email templates are added. If you do not add email templates, the abandoned carts will still get recorded.
The documentation available for the PRO version applies to the Lite version too as the Lite version has some features from the PRO.

Thank you! Sorry for the original post. I was getting pretty frustrated.
No problem. That’s the brunt plugin developers bear when customers give a 1-star rating purely out of frustration rather then on merits.
