    It’s also not true, WordPress does not recognize a subfolder named page-templates specifically. I think that somebody misunderstood how Twenty Twelve worked.

    In truth, WordPress will search a theme’s folder and *all* of it’s subfolders for Page Templates. So you can indeed put your Page Templates into a subfolder of the theme, with any folder name you like. But only to a depth of 1 folder, it won’t look any lower down than that.

    PADI, learned in Cairns, Australia, 20 years ago at GBR. Picture is from a trip to Grand Cayman.

    As for fixing the docs, tell somebody on the theme team. Best way is on Slack in the #themereview channel.
