Does changing Permalink setting affect existing pages?

    Just a general Permalink question for the community. I’ve been advised by a plug-in author to change my Permalink setting.

    Currently, my permalink is set to POST NAME.

    What effect would changing to CUSTOM STRUCTURE have on my currently named pages? Anything? Or do already named pages and posts remain intact?

    So currently, my CUSTOM STRUCTURE default is /%postname%/

    They suggested I change it to /%category%/%postname%/

    I just want to know the after effects, before I attempt this for plugin use. Thanks!

    The permalink change would affect all existing Posts.

    Just to clarify, would it also affect all existing PAGES? I can live with it changing posts, since I only have a handful of those. Thanks!
