Hello,
JPG has no transparency, so no, drop shadow will not work – you should try WebP instead
yes, all JPGs with transparency will be replaced by white color on transparent pixels

kubiq,
Thank you for the quick reply and for answering my questions.
Kubiq,
I did as you suggested and downloaded and installed the Images to WebP plugin. Backed up my site and ran the plugin selecting the Uploads folders and used the Convert Existing Images link. All I’m getting is this and so far about 500 of them. Am I doing something wrong and what does this indicate? Thanks

It appears that its trying the same ones over and over. Do I need to abort? Now thousands of them.

There can be different reasons:
– some image is too big and your server is not able to process it
– or you run out of your hosting space
– or others… hard to say
there will be more descriptive message inside your debug.log
You can do it again and just skip that folder and continue only with missing images.
This is just a free plugin and I had no time to create some conflict and errors management and reporting, but one day maybe…
