When upgrading to SSH2, there are several steps to follow, as in:

I was not able to replicate the error you describe on a test WordPress site running the Core calendar.
Can you confirm that your WordPress installation is up to date, and that your host is running PHP 5.6 or newer, as older versions are depricated and unsupported, and lastly, that your Core plugin is the latest version..
