Can someone please confirm if this is the case or not.
The reason the message is in the plugin is that requests to the root of the website have to be handled by WordPress. Otherwise, how would WordPress be able to handle the request for the domain?
What is the best way to do this if I need to?
If this is a new network then
– disable the network
– delete the DB tables added to the network
– move the single site to the root of the website
– recreate the network
If it’s an established network then it would probably be easier for you to create a separate network install for mapping domains.
Hi there
I didnt see this answer and posted elsewhere (sorry about the double up, I do need all the help I can get).
I was told that in the latest versions of WP I do not need the domain mapping plugin to choose a domain for a multisite installation – because it has been superseded by functionality in WP. If I have no past builds to think about because this is a new network … Do I need this plugin to simply choose my domain for the site?
Or did I misunderstand my other advice?
However, if I need the plugin working …
When you say:
“root of the website” I took this to mean the root of the server as at the moment I have the site and WP install in a subfolder which is only one level down at “root/nickfernandez” on my server.
I am sorry for these basic questions, I really thought this simple build would b easy but now I have spent two days trying to finish the domain setting with no luck. Oh well. Thanks again BTW.
Nick
