Update:
We assume SGS does not automatically block bad bots since our htaccess file does not reflect the proper code to do it.
Recommendation:
At your next convenient plugin revision level, we would like to recommend adding the htaccess bad bot blocking code created and managed by Perishable Press.
After comparing many htaccess codes and comprehensive testing, we have concluded theirs is the best one available at this time.
We added their latest 7G Firewall code to our website and — wow — it has enhanced our website efficiency and security by a strong margin.
We are not promoting the above nor are we related to the developer(s). We’re simply sharing this amazing code to help others.
Thank you!
@pinoooo,
Great find. Thank you. Good to know SiteGround supports the use of 7G Firewall.
With the introduction of SG Security and SiteGround’s past recommendation, adding the above-requested feature makes perfect sense.
Cheers!
Hey @sstoqnov,
Apologies. Topic not yet resolved. Our previous comments may have confused you.
Bottom line: We would like to see SG Security add a code (7G Firewall) to the htaccess file to block bad bots anytime your plugin is activated.
Thank you.
That’s not an issue but a feature request. We got it but at this point we won’t be implementing a WAF within the plugin.
