Does the plugin create additional image sizes?

    Hi! I’m happy with your plugin, but I wonder: Does the plugin create additional image sizes?

    As far as I know, WordPress creates 3 additional image sizes of my original uploaded images. But in the plugin settings, I see the heading: “Select image sizes to be compressed”, and there I see that the checkbox is marked for my original images and the 3 WordPress image sizes, BUT also some other image dimensions (for instance: 1536×1536).

    Does this mean that your plugin creates extra image sizes as well (like the 1536×1536)? Or does it only mean that IF these image sizes exist in my gallery, they will also be compressed?

    Hi there,

    Thanks for reaching out. We’d be happy to answer your question.

    The plugin does not create any additional image sizes. When you upload an image to WordPress, it will automatically generate thumbnails from the original image that are required. It’s likely that the image dimension 1536×1536 was needed for the WordPress theme.

    The plugin will only compress the original image and its existing image sizes in our Media Library. If you wish to manage which image sizes get generated and compressed by the plugin, in your WordPress dashboard go to Settings > Compress JPEG & PNG images and uncheck any image sizes you do not wish to use.
