    Hi, hope you are well.

I just installed your plugin a few hours back in the place of Sucuri.
So far, I love it and I am considering getting the pro version. I would buy the pro version right now if it had a decent bad bot blocker.

Sucuri has one in its premium version and theres also a free useful plugin by Jeff Star called Blackhole for bad bots which seems very promising. Unfortunately the plugin is not fully compatible with my cache software so I cannot install it. I was wondering if your plugin has any such feature and if not I would greatly recommend you adding it – even if it is in your pro version. I think it is a very neccessary step as bad bots steal content and use up much of the servers resources.

Any information on this would be a great help! If the plugin does not have such a feature, can you suggest to me any alternatives?

    Hi,

Thank you for your question and glad to hear you like what you see so far.

And yes, this is one of the primary roles of Shield – to block bad bots. You’ll find most of this under the IP Blocking module.

Shield takes in signals from all over the site, including comment spam, WP Login, fake search crawlers, XML-RPC, 404s etc. Some of these signals are only made available in the PRO version (along with many other extra features).

As this forum is dedicated solely to the free Shield product, we can only really discuss that element of the plugin on here. If you’d like to learn more about what’s available with PRO or ask us more about this with regards to pro, you can contact us here.

Thanks again for your question and interest in Shield! 🙂

    Cheers,
    Paul.

    Thanks for your response.

I did send a few comments your way on the website (onedollarplugin) but for some reason my comments still seem to be in moderation. My name is Sarmad Ishfaq. I made two comments – one on the how to capture bad bots post, and the other on how rate limiting works. If you could kindly address those concerns there that would greatly help me in deciding if shield pro is indeed the way to go!

    Thanks Paul
