This is my own plugin. I wanted to remove the emoji JS and CSS from my sites. Since I don’t use emoji’s, they were just slowing my site down so I made this to remove them.

FYI: I added this same functionality to my Classic Smilies plugin a couple weeks ago. There’s slightly more to it than you expect. I may need to update it slightly though, since core changed function names since then.

Why would a smilies plugin disable emoji functionality? They seem like unrelated features.

Because the emoji replaced the smilies.
