I – like many on here – was strongly encouraged by email to switch to this new Paypal plugin. After unsuccessfully installing it (couldn’t get it to display in checkout) – the sales rep let me know “If it is mainly subs then unfortunately do not go ahead with it. That was a question I was going to ask as recurring payments at the moment do not function on the Platform. When we have the update on that we will let you know.” Go figure…

PayPal Payments fully supports subscriptions with the WooCommerce Subscriptions plugin through the Vaulting feature for quite some time already: https://woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-paypal-payments/#subscriptions-faq

The next plugin update also includes experimental support for “PayPal Subscriptions” if your merchant account is not enabled for Reference Transactions.

But if you have any questions or encounter any issues with the plugin setup, I suggest getting in touch with the plugin support team, e.g. via the support forums. The information you have received is not accurate and does not reflect the current status of the integration.
