I installed the free version and spent a few hours trying to fix this error: “You exceeded your current quota, please check your plan and billing details…” I have updated my API key to the settings tab, I have added credits to my OpenAI account, I have removed maximum limits and nothing works. I’ve googled it to no avail. Frustrating after spending so much time trying to get it to work.

I was able to fix this issue by creating a completely new API key (my 3rd attempt) and it finally worked.

Hi,

Please review AI Engine, not OpenAI 🙂 The error message you got is related to OpenAI, not AI Engine. There is nothing I could do to improve this, in any way, as I am not OpenAI.

If you Google your issue, there are a lot of information, for example this: https://community.openai.com/t/i-keep-getting-an-error-you-exceeded-your-current-quota-please-check-your-plan-and-billing-details-even-though-my-account-has-sufficient-credits/537053/33.

Generally, it means that OpenAI needs a credit card in your account, otherwise it will not work.

Definitely an OpenAI side issue. But I guess maybe you just need to put a big bold message on that page telling people how to properly set up the API and add credit card.
