Hi. I’m thinking of registering a new site but my chosen URL with a .com domain is not available. My second choice would be .ie, but that’s unavailable.

My question is, would anyone advise using an alternative domain (.CO perhaps ??) or adding a word to the title. Its location specific so I could add http://www.VISIT……….COM but the problem is that adding a “VISIT” to the title makes the URL very long (19 characters, not including the http://www.com !

Appreciate any advice offered and apologies if this is posted to an incorrect place.

I think you should go for whichever one your prefer. There’s no science to, just a lot of trial-and-error. 🙂

Personally, I think shorter names are better, so adding a word might not be a good choice.

Similarly, I’d be concerned that if I chose a .co domain, it might be often confused for the .com domain. Fortunately, there are many other TLDs out there to choose from. 🙂

Try http://www.leandomainsearch.com/ for some decent suggestions too, you’d be surprised at what’s still available these days.
