-Hello, I’m a brand new WP user (and a bit of a neophyte computer user), so forgive me if the answer to this question is elementary. I jumped the gun a little, and installed WP before my new domain name was up and running. I was amazed that I got it working right away and happily spent most of last night configuring it.

Today, my new domain is live, and the homepage is using the new address, but all the interior links – Pages, Archives, Links, etc – are using the old domain name. Do I need to delete the database to fix this? delete the db, and resinstall WP?

  • No need to delete anything.
If you have phpmyAdmin – your host should be offering this as part of the hosting deal – then this page shows how you can alter the two small bits in the database to set everything right.

If you are not sure about where phpMyAdmin is on the host, this page might help:

And if you run into any problems, just post back 🙂

-Ahhh glorious! Thank you very much for your help and insight. I do have phpMy Admin installed, but I don’t think it’s in quite the same form the WP documentation is expecting. (I know that I had to fiddle a bit to get a db created.) I’ll contact my host 🙂

    -Thanks again!

-Just a quick update. I managed to fix this by changing the entries in the dashboard under ‘web address’ and ‘blogg adress’. Due to a process that is way beyond my feeble brain, the change propagated through the site and I didn’t have to touch the db at all.

-So, many thanks again for your input: it sparked something in me, clearly 🙂 And I added this update in case the issue comes up for another user.
