• Completely stuck here guys… my website http://www.strangersinacinema.com is returning this message.

Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain.

I have a domain through hostgator but apparently not the URL, I followed the messages and purchased the recommended upgrade on wordpress.com but it reverted back to an old website before I transferred to .org and now it won’t come back?

Spoke to hostgator who advised me to redirect name servers but that baffles me?

That’s because your domain’s name servers are directed to WordPress.com. Name servers are what basically tell the domain where the site is, and right now yours are saying the site is at WordPress.com.

If your blog is at WordPress.com, then you need to purchase a paid plan or domain mapping upgrade from them for the domain to work.

If your blog is hosted elsewhere, you need to direct your domain’s name servers to your hosting provider.

Your domain appears to be registered with WordPress.com, and you can find instructions on how to change the name servers at: https://en.support.wordpress.com/change-name-servers/

You’ll need to contact your current hosting provider for their name servers.

To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and ww.wp.xz.cn are two different entities: https://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/WordPress_vs_WordPress.com

WordPress.com has complete documentation and support contacts at https://support.wordpress.com/

thank you James… that makes a little more sense. I am aware they are two entities.

I have the name server details tried to log in to http://www.strangersinacinema.com rather than strangersinacinema.wordpress.com and do not have access to domain options on wordpress.com. But they are there for the wordpress (old) version.

Is there a seperate .org dashboard I should be managing my site with?

    (@macmanx)

There is a separate Dashboard, but you’ll need to direct the domain back to your hosting provider to get there.

Youll get your hosting provider’s name servers from your hosting provider, and change your name servers following this guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/change-name-servers/

This isn’t working for me… can’t even get that screen to make the change…

Is there a way to post screenshots in here?

Whilst I can see strangersincinema.com on my dashboard it won’t let amend the settings for the site. It says something about jetpack being out of date??

I can amend settings for strangersincinema.wordpress.com but not not domain settings.

Ok, then you’ll need to get in touch with WordPress.com support: https://support.wordpress.com/
