Domain Transfer- Cannot Access WordPress Content

    Well. I created a mess for myself.

    I decided to change hosts from Siteground (using WP) to squarespace. I have a few days left on my siteground annual subscription but I hadn’t copied over some of the last (unpublished) content. Because I moved my domain today to squarespace, I can no longer access any of my content that was on WP.

    I called siteground and they had me use hosts.cx to get a temporary domain to view the front of my previous website and he told me I could access the back end but didn’t tell me how.

    my transferred domain is thethingsmyeyeshaveseen.com and I would access through /wp-admin/ so this is my problem (the domain is currently private via squarespace atm)

    Is there any way I can access any of this content before my hosting is gone? I have updates from updraft plus plugin saved but also.. I just don’t have any idea how I would use that backup either.

    Hello,

    Sorry for the trouble and here are below ways I think you could resolve the issue.

    1. You mentioned Siteground said you could access your website backend when they gave you the temporary link for the front end, I would suggest you ask them how you could do that

    2. If you were looking to access your content, since you mentioned you have an Updraft backup, how about uploading the backup on a localhost environment to access your content back

    3. Finally, (if I may ask) apart from the updraft backup, do you backup your site in other ways – like using WordPress export tools?

    1-the temporary link is not from siteground but a separate website that (I don’t understand) that generates a temporary link from web info? the hosts.cx was all they would give me but it is not linked to my hosting so I am not sure if I can reroute the wp-login access point to that temporary link since I don’t own the domain?

    2- Just to clarify, my skills are limited, the localhost environment. Would that be to download the software onto my personal laptop, and the updraft plugin, and use my updraft backup to access via my computer without a host?

    3-I don’t think that I have any other backups set up, at least I haven’t intentionally done any other kinds of back ups.

    Note: If I transfer my domain back to siteground, would i regain access? Even if it were for a day.. if so what would be the best way to save/export everything if I was able to gain access to upload to my localhost?

    Calling the url at https://www-ov8wh.hosts.cx/wp-admin opens up the wp-admin page where you can try to login. First you will need to accept the disclaimer by clicking the link on the page. Once you click on the link, it takes you to your website.
