OK, after desactivating Simple Security Firewall, Mail on Update send mail correctly.
I will take a look at “How to debug the problem/conflict”.

OK, I make some tests. I activated first only Firewall module. I got an email from Mail on Update.
I activated then Automatic Update and, if update is effective, I have no mail from Simple Firewall or Mail on Update.

There is a notifications option under the Automatic Updates module – does this affect the behaviour here?

Yes, I activated notifications and added my own email – same as admin.

After digging into this, there is nothing in WP automatic updates pertaining to emails for automatic plugin updates unless you’re running a beta version of WordPress. I’m still checking my core for core updates…

I use https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/mail-on-update/ plugin 🙂 for this. It works well until Automatic Update module is activated in Simple Firewall. Do not know how it works…

Not sure how that’s impacting that. But, I’ve just added our own custom email that is now sent out – perhaps replacing the need for the separate plugin. It’ll be out with 4.14.0.
