• They implemented update on videopress of jetpack that old paid plans get all unplayable unless one keeps playing premium plan.
A scam considering their terms, back then, was lifetime access even when not paying monthly.

  • Hello, there.

As a product, we have not listed a lifetime of video hosting past the closing of a plan. I’ve taken a look back at our product pages from January of 2020 (around when you purchased your plan) thanks to the Wayback Machine on archive.org:

    https://web.archive.org/web/20200322033331/https://jetpack.com/pricing/
    https://web.archive.org/web/20200104181821/https://jetpack.com/features/
    https://web.archive.org/web/20200320202131/https://jetpack.com/features/design/video-hosting/

While it did say “unlimited video hosting,” that was referencing the amount of space / number of videos you could use while the plan was active, rather than referring to an unlimited time with just one purchase.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Well the FAQ also said,

“What happens if you don’t renew, will my videos disappear?”

And the answer was something like “no, your videos will continue to display regularly but you won’t be able to upload new videos.”

    Isn’t that the same?

    Hi there,

What happens if you don’t renew, will my videos disappear?

And the answer was something like “no, your videos will continue to display regularly but you won’t be able to upload new videos.”

That is the same policy we have changed, and we have also sent emails to all our users who are using VideoPress but don’t have an active plan now.

We are not removing your videos from our system, and you can download them if you want (downloads will stop working after August 1st), but we will not continue to display the videos if you don’t have the Jetpack plan which has the VideoPress feature included.

Here is how you can download the videos: https://d.pr/v/yAZ0tK
