The image must be linked to the archive in order to work, as is explained in the description of the plugin.

Ok, thank you (although I asked the question almost three months ago). I already solved it, but I would have preferred that the pop up image could be a “large” version of the image and not the same image in its same size. If I click on it, it’s because I want to see some detail, I don’t want to see the same.
Ah, but that’s how It works with images, using the available ones. Example: you post a small size and the image linked to the full size. No plugin knows where you want to link to.
OK, but I mean a system like with the image galleries, where you click on a photo and it is enlarged to its natural size. It’s the image gallery that “shrinks” or “adjusts” the size. I only upload one image, not two, usually to large size.

That’s the way that galleries work, not single images
But WP make several smaller sizes automattically. You can post a smaller size linked to the original. In WP uploader os called “link to the file” if I remember correctly 😉
