Feature request: disable lightbox script when Elementor is detected

When installing OceanWP you are prompted to also install Elementor as a recommended plugin. Also, on the Elementor web site one of the recommended themes is OceanWP.

Considering this mutual compatibility effort, I’d like to propose a feature request.

There are probably more feature overlaps and collisions, but the most obvious one is the lightbox. In a default install of WP+OceanWP+Elementor all images are opened in a double-layered lightbox – one lightbox is provided by Elementor and the another one is provided by OceanWP. You actually have to dismiss both lightboxes to get back to the site.

Whenever OceanWP detects that Elementor is installed, it would be great if the scripts that collide with Elementor’s are automatically disabled.

Yes, I can do this manually. But sometimes one forgets and this leads to a confusing and less than professional looking result.

Hello, I cannot do something like that because many users prefer the theme lightbox, that is why you can disable the lightbox via Theme Panel > Scripts & Styles page.

Then, may I suggest a notice in the admin panel that reminds the admin to disable one of the lightboxes. The default setup is confusing for users and looks very unprofessional.

Out of curiosity: What advantages does the OceanWP lightbox have over the one provided by Elementor?

Hello, I cannot do that because if a user disables the theme lightbox via a child theme, the admin notice will be displayed for nothing and many users don’t like admin notice.

There was no lightbox in Elementor before and I have to put one in the theme for users who use another page builder or no page builder. And I can use it for my plugins like Ocean Portfolio.

Can you please advise how to disable the lightbox within the theme, so I use the Elimentor Lightbox ? I am a newbie btw

    Hello, two solutions:
    1. Via Theme Panel > Scripts & Styles, disable the lightbox script.
    2. If the first solution doesn’t work for you, add this code in the functions.php of your child theme: http://docs.oceanwp.org/article/464-disable-the-lightbox-scripts
