Unless your article text is justified, the normal browser default behaviour is to replace double spaces with a single space.

I’m using Firefox 3.5.1 but i don’t see double-space -> space, when i published article.
Sorry but I can’t see any double-spacing. Perhaps I’m just not looking in the right place. Can you point me towards a specific example?

In IE same problem, when publishing post.
It’s not double spaced in FF 3.5.

I delete double-space manually.
The most logical answer then, is that you accidentally manually input the double-spaces.

Yes, when i write fast. But in comments WordPress replace double-space with space. But not in article, when i published them…
I’d like to second this. I’ve got a contributor who always puts double spaces in between sentences. I’d like WP to remove them when the article is published and only have one space. I was hoping there’d be a plugin that did this, but I can’t find anything.
Any ideas?

WordPress coder: please help or fix to WP 2.8.4?
Don’t know if any of you are still having this issue or now, but I created a plugin that handles this: http://ww.wp.xz.cn/extend/plugins/remove-double-space/
I have the same situation where multiple contributors will use differing amounts of whitespace between sentences. This simple plugin will replace any duplicate whitespace with a single space.
Let me know if this works for you, and if you run across any issues or new features you would like to see.

One question… is this delete duplicate space from old posts too?
