    I see references to a download button but I do not see a short code to add a button to a post. I tried [mdocs single-file=”Enter the file name.”] but it gives me a link not a button.

    there is no shortcode that will add just a download button to a post/page/widget. The simple solution for you is to just create a link in your post to the direct download of the file.

    To get this link goto your document list and click on the document you want the link for then click on the Share link this will bring up a modal with two links one directs users to the mdocs post page of the file the other is the direct download of that file.
