    Hi David,
I need to download just the url from the media library, so I can update posts that are missing images – the images are in the media library, but I’m missing the url to them in the post.
Can I do this with the Media Assistant plugin or can you suggest another way to download the url?
    Any help much appreciated

Good to hear from you again, and thanks for your question.

The easy answer to exporting just about anything from the Media Library is to use the excellent Admin Columns Pro, which allows you to “Export your WordPress Content to CSV”.

You are already familiar with the “MLA CSV Data Source Example” plugin. You can use the “Export Match Keys” function to create a CSV file that has the base name of each item. A bit of editing could turn that into a full URL that would work in your site.

You wrote “the images are in the media library, but I’m missing the url to them in the post“. If you want to insert the image in the content of a post there is usually more than the URL required. You need an HTML < IMG > tag with the URL as one of its attributes. Other attributes sech as the alt= value are usually involved.

I did not intend to add export functions to the “MLA CSV Data Source Example” plugin but it might be feasible to extend the “Export Match Keys” function in some way. Can you give me more details and an example of the content you need?

I am backed up with other development tasks right now but I can get to this at some point. Any additional details you can provide will be helpful. Thanks for your continued interest in the plugin.

I am happy to announce that I have added an “Export Item Values” tool to the “MLA CSV Data Source Example” plugin. You can add columns to the CSV export file using all of the “Field-level Substitution Parameters”, including standard values, taxonomy terms, custom fields and IPTC/EXIF/XMP metadata. Complete information can be found in the Settings/MLA CSV Data Documentation tab.

I have uploaded a new MLA Development Version dated 20210628 that includes the enhanced “MLA CSV Data Source Example” plugin. You can find step-by-step instructions for using the Development Version in this earlier topic:

PHP Warning on media upload with Polylang

Once the Development Version is installed you must install/update and activate the example plugin. Navigate to the Settings/Media library Assistant Documentation tab and click the “Example Plugins” button. Type “CSV” in the text box and click “Search Plugins” to filter the table.

You are looking for the “MLA CSV Data Source Example” plugin. Find that plugin and hover over the title in the left-most column. Click the “Install” rollover action, then go to the WordPress Plugins/Installed Plugins submenu and activate the example plugin as you would any other plugin. Make sure you have the latest version, 1.02, installed.

Once the Development Version and updated example plugin are installed and active you can navigate to the Settings/MLA CSV Data admin screen and configure the plugin for your application. You will find a Documentation tab with quite a bit of instructions and information. I would be very interested in any suggestions you have about the documentation content.

This example plugin will be part of my next MLA version, but in the interim it would be great if you could install the Development Version and the example plugin and let me know if it works for you. Thanks for your patience and for inspiring this MLA improvement.

I have released MLA version 2.96, which contains the updated MLA CSV Data Source Example plugin. I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it if you have trouble with the new version. Thanks again for inspiring this MLA improvement.
