How do I add downloads to my posts? I want to add some downloadable files to my post.

Have you looked into using Easy Digital Downloads:
https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/easy-digital-downloads/

It is a simple, easy to use plugin that may be up your alley.

I will look at it. I don’t think I can add any plugins. Can I just add the zip file as media?

Yes, you can just upload the file through the media area, and insert that into your post/page/etc. Just click on ‘Add Media’ above the main editor area and you’ll see all of the available files and be able to upload more.
