Hey! I downloaded your plugin based on Sarah Gooding’s article on WPTavern. Like your first commenter that you resolved, it didn’t work.

Received your update shortly after and it works fine.

    So thank you!

Now, that do I do with it?

On my static Home Page alone there are 24 options to NOT LOAD. Which ones do I select?

Needless to say, I am not technically inclined, so if this something that requires more than a default list of options that should be turned off, it may be too much for me.

If on the other hand, there are certain features that are ALWAYS unnecessary, then we need that list as part of this site.

    Keep on keepin’ on!

You know what theme you’re using and what plugins are active and which scripts from the theme/plugins are used on certain pages or not. For instance, in your contact page, you might not use the functionality of a few plugins etc. If you’re not sure what scripts you should disable (if any, maybe you need all), then you can ask your developer to do it for you.

The point of this plugin is to remove unnecessary assets (.CSS and .JS files) from the pages where the assets are not used. They are loaded by the theme/plugins site-wide.

Hope it helps! The plugin will be improved in time and it will be easier and easier to use and understand for the non-techie people! I will even add tips and more information for specific assets etc.

Thanks for the prompt response. I can understand that I don’t need Contact Form 7 or Yet Another Related Related Post Plugin on the downloading of of my Home Page. But the rest? Hoo boy!

I will approach the usually helpful folk whose theme I use and see if they have any suggestions.

I look forward to advances in your WP Asset Clean Up plugin so that tech-challenged websiters like myself don’t have to ask these questions.

    Best!

Make sure the page is properly tested after the updates and you don’t unload by mistake something that you need or might need in the future. Your developer should know that anyway. Optimisation is not a set and forget thing. We wish it would be that simple. I will likely release a premium version of this plugin if people will find it useful and gain popularity.
