I have this issue as well! And I have many client websites that need updating so the sooner we could get an update the better. Thank you!
Hi there,
Thank you for letting us know about the issue, I’ve contacted our developers.
As soon as I have some feedback I will update you here with the information.
Best regards,
Nick
I don’t want to sound impatient but has there been any updates on the progress with this topic? I, too, am affected by this and while Dreamhost hasn’t officially stated any ending date I doubt they will give us a very long grace period.
I opened a ticket with UpdraftPlus support and their response (below) also recommended the S3 Genereic option – working so far for my backups:
“To proceed, please try selecting the S3-Compatible (Generic) option in your remote storage settings. Once selected, you’ll need to enter the access key, secret key, location, and the correct endpoint provided by DreamHost for their new S3-compatible service. This setup should allow UpdraftPlus to communicate properly with their updated storage system.”

Thanks Sam (@samsterid) for the info. I tried this myself shortly after seeing the Dreamobjects posts pop up on this forum but couldn’t seem to get it to work. The solution finally came when I determined that “s3generic://” under “Location” means the same as “dreamobjects://” on the Dreamobjects settings. After giving all of the required info, the test for the settings worked for me. Hopefully the normally scheduled backup will work, too.
Unless I missed it (which is quite likely), it would be nice if someone from Updraftplus could add a note somewhere in their documentation, blog posts, or a short term sticky here to let Dreamobjects users know to switch to the S3 Generic option and hopefully reduce future posts in this forum.
Hi there,
My apologies for being late to get back to this thread. Here is an update for you.
Best regards,
Nick
DreamObjects Update
As of UpdraftPlus 1.25.3 (2.25.3.26) the DreamObjects users can use the S3-Generic storage post the migration of DreamObjects storage from being managed in-house to using BackBlaze S3 compatible,
We had a conversation in the past with the DreamHost team and a decision has been made to keep the DreamObjects storage configuration in our plugin but there will be a new default endpoint (s3.us-east-005.dream.io) added to the endpoint list,
Since DreamObjects now uses S3 compatible storage this also means that users should be able to also use the S3-Generic, so at present we will need to tell the user to use the S3-Generic instead of DreamObject storage settings because the MR that deals with the new endpoint is still in review.
We’ve informed the DreamObjects team about the S3-Generic storage that should be used at the moment and they’re happy with that.
