• after updating and deleting the two plugins “AMP by Automattic” and “Glue for Yoast SEO & AMP” (https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/do-i-need-amp-by-automattic-and-glue-for-yoast-seo-amp-anymore/), I reported a drop in AMP traffic.

I wonder what may have happened.

I’ve resumed the settings before backup:
    “ampforwp-seo-meta-description”:”0″,
    “ampforwp-seo-custom-additional-meta”:””,
    “ampforwp-seo-yoast-meta”:”1″,
    “ampforwp-seo-yoast-description”:”0″,
    “ampforwp-robots-archive-sub-pages-sitewide”:”0″,
    “ampforwp-robots-archive-author-pages”:”1″,
    “ampforwp-robots-archive-date-pages”:”1″,
    “ampforwp-robots-archive-category-pages”:”1″,
    “ampforwp-robots-archive-tag-pages”:”1″,

Now I have abled meta description and meta description in structured data json.

Is it possible that a variation of page meta tags can affect the traffic?

PS: a sample of amp page returned are valid, using the official validator. (tomorrow I will check the Google Search Console)

  • Yes the title can effect ranking and meta descriptions do effect click through visitor rate. You AMP pages should have the same meta data to minimize issues. However, don’t forget that google knows the canonical page for an AMP page and can pick up on json defined in the canonical version and use it.

For example, I have a reviews page with some json in it declaring average rating etc. I get the stars showing in the SERPS for the normal reviews page. That json is not declared in the AMP version. However the AMP version in the SERPS also shows those stars. Google must have got that from the canonical.

    Hi @marcopanichi

What does the webmaster tools show? Does it report any errors? How many pages are indexed?

Also, Do you have the mobile redirection On?
