It is possible but would require some coding, first you need to do a service that return the options in json format, something like this:

{“label”:”Options 2″,Value:”Value2″}
]

Then in your dropdown you can create a formula to retrieve the dropdown values using the remote function. Here is an example of how to use the remote function in a formula:
