In my Woocommerce shop cart and check-out the dropdown box menu for county (province) opens about 200? pixels lower than it should, detached from the county field.. The size of the box is fine. I have had this issue since the 27th of January.

This misalignment happens on mobile and desktop, and in all browsers (Safari, Chrome, Ecosia and Bing were tested). The bugs is just less apparent on a bigger screen, because the dropdown has space to open. On smaller screens the dropdown tries to open below the screen and malfunctions.
When keeping the county selection field (check out field) higher in the screen, as shown in the attached screenshot, the dropdown does open when you click it, but as you can see it opens way too low.
I deactivated all plugins with the exception of Wordfence, Elementor and Woocommerce and the problem remains. The issue only dissapears when Astra theme is deactivated.
This bug does not appear on my almost-identical International website. This website has the same plugins and the same most recent updates. I added the country to the international shop as a test and there were no problems.

I opened a ticket on brainstormforce for the Astra theme, but no response yet. Recently, the link for Astra tickets stopped working, so I have no hope that they will ever get back to me.

I anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.

  • Hi @hillbirdle,

Thank you for sharing the details of the issue you’re experiencing. Based on your description, it seems like the problem is related to the Astra theme, as the issue disappears when the theme is deactivated. Since the problem is not occurring on your international site with the same plugins, this further points to a theme conflict.

Since you’ve already opened a ticket with Astra support, I recommend following up with them, as it seems the issue is theme-related. In the meantime, you can also try clearing your site’s cache and the browser cache to rule out any old files causing conflicts.

    Hi @mahfuzurwp

I am following up with Astra support of course, however the response is minimal. I assume they are very busy. With your permission I will keep this topic open for it might help others.

I will post the solution here once I get it.

Clearing of site and browser cache has no effect unfortunately. The dropdown box keeps opening in the next checkout field.

Visitors of my web shop are having the same issue, but many of them do not realize they can still open the dropdown box if they give it enough space to open by moving it up in their screen.

    Hi @fetenlakhal

Unfortunately the issue has still not been resolved.

Additional info: I created a staging site for troubleshooting, but the issue does not appear on the staging site, only on the live site. I am still in contact with Astra Support.

    Hello hillbirdle,

    Thank you for your reply.

I understand the issue persists on your live site but not on the staging site. This suggests it could be related to caching.

While you wait for Astra support, please share the System Status Reports of both sites so I can compare them and identify possible causes.

Looking forward to your response. 🙂

    Hi @doublezed2

Thank you for offering your help. Please find the reports here: https://we.tl/t-5kGwaQrjyK

If you rather have me post them directly here or have another way to share these files that works better please let me know.

    Hi @hillbirdle,

Thanks for sharing the report. It looks like this issue may be caused by a conflict with your plugins or theme. Some installed plugins, such as Astra Pro, Code Snippets, Elementor (and its addons), Checkout Field Editor, and Wordfence, could be interfering—especially if you’ve made checkout page modifications with any of them.

Since you’ve already disabled all plugins except Elementor, Wordfence, and WooCommerce, please take it a step further by disabling Elementor and Wordfence, leaving only WooCommerce with Astra. Then, check if the issue persists.

    • If the issue disappears, then Wordfence or Elementor is likely the cause.
    • If the issue remains, Astra is likely the culprit. In that case, try deactivating and deleting Astra, then reinstall it manually by downloading it from ww.wp.xz.cn. If the problem continues, Astra’s support team would be in the best position to assist.

Alternatively, you can hire a developer from Codeable.io to help troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

@mosesmedh Thank you for the tips. I will reinstall Astra Pro to see if it helps.

I do wonder though if the reports I posted showed that the issue is related to caching or not. The Astra support team was also thinking it could be related to caching, but no one gave a conclusive answer. Would someone please confirm?

    Hi @hillbirdle,

It’s not certain that caching is causing the issue. The problem seems to be more related to a conflict or a bug in the theme rather than caching.

To troubleshoot, please refer to the instructions I shared earlier. Following those steps will help you pinpoint the exact cause of the issue.

I made a clone of the website for AstraPro support, however this clone stopped showing the dropdown bug after I deleted the blog comments and product reviews.

Before, when only customer/user accounts and orders were deleted, the bug still presented itself on all browsers and devices. After comments and reviews were also deleted the bug disappeared.

I had the AstraPro team double-check my findings and they confirmed, unfortunately they did not do more than that and I still do not know how to resolve the issue on the original website. Is it caching? If so, what can I do about it without deleting all data/settings?

    Hi @hillbirdle,

    Thanks for the details!

Since the issue doesn’t occur when switching to a different theme, it likely stems from a conflict with the Astra theme. I’d suggest reaching out to the Astra support team to see if they’re aware of this layout issue with the checkout dropdown.

In the meantime, you can also try switching to the Storefront theme to confirm the dropdown behaves correctly there too. This can help further isolate the issue.

Let us know how it goes!

    Hello all,

We finally found the root of the issue. It was the store notice. For some reason, when the store notice was displayed dropdown menus in Woocommerce got misaligned.

AstraPro support has informed their development team about the issue, and a fix will be included in an upcoming update.

    Hi @hillbirdle.

I’m happy to hear you were able to identify the cause of the issue, and thank you for keeping us updated. In the meantime, since you’re using WooCommerce, we’d really appreciate it if you could take a moment to leave an honest review for the plugin. Your feedback is important to us and helps us continue improving: Leave a review.
