Dropdowns Not Working Now
-
I updated to the new Combine JS v1.2 today and it makes my navigation dropdowns stop working. I disable the plugin and they work fine. They have always worked with previous versions of Combine JS. Please get this fixed? I am using the Suffusion Theme. Website is my username

Hi there,
I was able to load dropdowns using the recent version of the plugin and the Suffusion theme installed. Could you send a list of plugins that you use? I suspect that there is some type of plugin conflict.
Also, it looks like you are loading a number of CSS files in the footer of your site. The site would load better if you put them in the document head element.
Thanks,
Tim
Tim,
We are currently using the following plugins:
– Async JS and CSS
– Enhanced Text Widget
– JavaScript to Footer
– RSS Retriever
– WordPress SEO
– WP-HTML-Compression
– wp-jquery-lightboxCombineJS is currently disabled.
I went through and disabled every plugin that is installed except for the CombineJS plugin and the dropdown menus still aren’t appearing so I’m not sure that it is a plugin conflict.
Thanks
Hi,
I believe that I found a fix for your issue. Version 1.3 should work better for you.
Thanks,
Tim
Tim,
Unfortunately, that update didn’t seem to fix our issue. Dropdowns still won’t display with the plugin activated. 🙁
Thanks for your awesome support though!
Sorry that didn’t help. Could you try it without the JavaScript to Footer and Async JS and CSS plugins activated?
The Javascript to Footer plugin is actually loading your CSS in the footer of the site and causes the site to flash without any styling when it first loads. The site may actually load better without it being activated. I may add an option to move all JS to footer for this plugin.
These 3 plugins are actually kind of doing operations on the same things. In some ways, I wouldn’t expect them to play nicely together. Let me know the results of deactivating those 2 plugins and we can figure something else out.
Thanks,
Tim
Tim,
All plugins are currently disabled except for the CombineJS plugin and the dropdowns are still broken, I will leave it this way for a bit so you can see it happening.
The only reason I have the CSS moved to the footer is because it gets rid of a render-blocking error on pagespeed insights and gets a better score. I’ll play around with and consider leaving it off though.
Thanks again
Thanks for doing that. I think I see the issue. I will have a version for you to try later today. Feel free to activate your other plugins now.
Thanks,
Tim
Sounds good! Let me know when it is up.
Hello again,
I’m hoping that version 1.4 will fix the issue you’ve encountered. Fingers are crossed.
Thanks,
Tim
Tim,
Unfortunately the drop-down is still inoperable..
I may just try to roll back to version 1.1 since it was working fine.
Well, if you could send me a copy of your theme and an export of the db, I could replicate this locally and have a fix later today. I can help you do this as well; email me at tim AT weareconvoy.com.
There is something pretty unique going on here. It may be related to your site being installed in a subdirectory (/main/) or something along those lines.
You are welcome to use a different version as well, but I’m not sure the earlier version was doing very much combining.
Thanks,
Tim
Hi again,
I had been testing with the “JavaScript to Footer” plugin, but I had not tried the “Async JS and CSS” plugin. The “Combine JS” plugin is not compatible with the “Async JS and CSS” plugin. The latest version of Combine JS should work for you if you deactivate the “Async JS and CSS” plugin.
If you decide to keep the “Async JS and CSS” plugin activated, you will not need the “JavaScript to Footer” plugin activated — I’m fairly confident that the async plugin trumps the functionality of the footer plugin.
Thanks,
Tim
Tim,
I disabled all plugins when I tested out the CombineJS 1.4. Additionally, I tested it with all of my usual plugins enabled.
If this is just an issue for us don’t worry about it. It isn’t worth your time. Thanks for your help.
