I have an ongoing issue whereby occasionally Wp2social will post the same post from my website to my Facebook page again and again, sometimes up to 40-50 times. Just the same post again and again. My customers are annoyed and I have to manually delete the duplicate Facebook posts. Any ideas why? Thanks

  • Hi Alison,

    Thanks for reaching out .
One common reason for this issue is the “Auto publish on editing” setting being enabled. When this is active, any update or edit to a post (including background updates, metadata changes, or plugin-triggered edits) can trigger the plugin to repost the same content to Facebook multiple times.

Could you please check the following?

    • Go to Plugin Settings → General Settings
    • Look for: “Auto publish on editing posts/pages/custom post types”
    • Make sure this is set to Disabled

Disabling this should prevent repeated publishing when a post is updated or modified.

If the issue still continues after this change, let me know

thanks for your reply. Is the Auto publish on editing posts/pages/custom post types a newly added tick box option? I looked at it was enabled so I’ve now set to disable but I’m certain when I originally set it all up this wasn’t an option? Do you know if it was only recently added?

    Hi Alison,

    You’re welcome .

The “Auto publish on editing posts/pages/custom post types” option isn’t a newly added feature — it has been available for quite some time, and by default it is set to Disabled.

It’s possible that it may have been enabled unintentionally at some point (for example during setup, updates, or while exploring settings), which could explain the repeated reposting behavior you experienced.

Now that you’ve disabled it, the duplicate posting issue should stop. Please keep an eye on it, and if you notice anything unusual again, feel free to let me know — I’ll be happy to help further.

    Thanks!
