Hi @opeedo,
We tested the example post and found that the schema data shows no errors in the Google Structured Data Testing Tool and the Google Rich Results Test.
Although it appears to have a duplicate @type value, in the structured data, Yoast outputs an array (a list of values) of Article and NewsArticle types. This is a valid format and what we expect the plugin to do.
You can find more details in the Article documentation: Yoast Developer Documentation Schema piece – Article.

Hi @opeedo,
if you’d like to change the default behavior, you’re welcome to do so by adding custom code. We have more details and code examples in the Yoast developer documentation: Yoast SEO Schema API.
If you’re not familiar with what custom code to add or how to use WordPress hooks, we highly recommend contacting a web developer. You can also check out freelancer sites for available WordPress development help.
