First of all, thank you for your great plugin. I am using Permalink Manager Pro and noticed that URLs with duplicate slashes (e.g. https://example.com//page// are not automatically normalized.

Currently, WordPress serves such URLs without redirecting them to the clean version (/page/subpage). This can cause duplicate content issues for SEO.

Could you please let me know:

    • Is there a built-in setting in Permalink Manager to automatically remove duplicate // in permalinks?
    • If not, would you consider adding an option for this in future versions?

Thank you very much for your support.

    Best regards,

    Hi @tiran2103,

Thank you, I really appreciate it!

Technically, this functionality was already implemented in 2.4.1 version and it is automatically turned on:

    https://plugins.trac.ww.wp.xz.cn/browser/permalink-manager/trunk/includes/core/permalink-manager-core-functions.php#L839

Could you possibly send me a sample URL where this redirect does not work?

    Best regards,
    Maciej

Thank you for your reply and the clarification.

I just wanted to mention that in the meantime I also implemented manual 301 redirects to prevent duplicate URLs and indexing issues. However, the problem still occurs with some cases (for example:
    https://www.vindex.co.il/vendor/air-conditioning-technician4//).

Could you please advise if there is an additional configuration needed in the plugin to make sure these redirects work automatically?

    Best regards,
    tiran

    Hi @tiran2103,

It seems that you are using Permalink Manager Pro. If this is a “nulled” copy, the issue usually comes from how some GPL marketplaces distribute my plugin. They usually do not have the original files, so they copy an older version and just modify the version number in the README.txt. Everything else stays outdated, which explains why the plugin may not work as expected.

Could you check if the same issue persists also with the most recent version of Permalink Manager Lite? If the problem does not appear in Lite version, updating the Pro version to the newest version will likely solve it too. Both Free & Pro versions use the same database records and the code for the redirect functionality.

In general, I provide support only for Permalink Manager Lite here:
    https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/guidelines/#do-not-post-about-commercial-products

If you need support for Pro version please submit a ticket with your license key using the official website:

    Best regards,
    Maciej
