We updated the plugin last week and have had a lot of duplicated orders via the Woocommerce shopping cart over the weekend.

Are you aware of any problems – we have not experienced this issue before.

    Hi Richard,

Welcome to the WooCommerce Support Forum, and thanks for reaching out.

I understand you’re noticing duplicated orders since the recent plugin update, and that’s definitely something we want to help you get to the bottom of.

To start, could you clarify what you mean by “duplicated orders via the WooCommerce shopping cart”? Are duplicate entries showing up in the backend order list, or are customers reporting this during checkout? A screenshot showing the duplication would be especially helpful.

Also, just to confirm, was it the WooCommerce Stripe Payment Gateway plugin that you updated or another plugin in your setup?

Once we have more details, we’ll be able to guide you more accurately. Looking forward to your reply!

We have had about ten orders duplicated on the website.

All of these have been processed and charged some, have been processed several times

We update to 9.3.2 on Friday – problems started on Saturday.

    Hi @richard_vc,

Just to clarify, the WooCommerce Stripe Gateway plugin doesn’t control the creation of orders. That’s handled by WooCommerce itself during the checkout process, before passing the order to Stripe for payment.

It’s possible that a plugin conflict or an incompatible plugin could be causing duplicate orders. Here’s what we recommend:

    • Please run a quick conflict test by temporarily deactivating all plugins except WooCommerce and Stripe, and switching to a default theme like Storefront.
    • Also, could you check if High-Performance Order Storage (HPOS) is enabled under WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced > Features?

If the issue continues after that, could you please share the following:

    1. Your System Status Report via WooCommerce > Status > Get system report > Copy for support.
    2. Any recent fatal error logs from WooCommerce > Status > Logs. You can paste them in a GitHub Gist and share the link here.

Once we have a bit more detail, we’ll be happy to take a closer loo

    Link to logs

HPOS no enabled. There is a conflict with one plugin.

Do you want the full debug log, it’s quite big.

    Hi @richard_vc,

Based on the debug log, it appears that some of your products do not have a price set, as indicated by the message: “Express checkout does not support free product.”

To better understand your site setup, please share your system status report by going to WooCommerce > Status > Get system report > Copy for support.

There was one product without a price, now removed.

I have update the Gist with the Woo support file.

    Hi @richard_vc,

Kindly update your response and upload the report to https://gist.github.com, as sharing it directly in the forum thread may cause the chat to break or create issues.

    I have done.

    Hi @richard_vc ,

Thanks so much for getting back to us.

I’d love to take a step back for a moment—could you help clarify what you meant when you mentioned:

There is a conflict with one plugin.

Just so we’re on the same page, I noticed that you’re using the following plugin:

WC Duplicate Order – by Jamie Gill (version 1.7)

Since this plugin specifically relates to duplicating orders, it’s a good idea to rule it out as the source of the issue. When you have a moment, could you try temporarily deactivating it and then check if the problem still occurs?

Let me know how that goes.

    Thread Starter Richard_vc

    (@richard_vc)

Conflict with one plugin – relates to an upgrade to HPOS and we have not upgraded to that because of the conflict.

Duplicate orders plugin. This is use inside the admin panel and not on the front end.

Some of these orders were duplicated three times, could the plugin had fired on it’s own or could this error be due to lags on the site and the customers double clicking – we have not had these problems before but 7 or 8 in one day after the update to the plugin.

    Hi @richard_vc,

Thank you for the clarification. It’s worth noting that the duplicate orders you’re seeing appear only on the admin side, not on the front end. Since the plugin you’re using is designed to duplicate orders, it may be interfering with WooCommerce’s core functions and triggering multiple duplicate entries whenever an order is placed.

Upon reviewing the plugin, I noticed it hasn’t been updated in over six years. That’s quite a long time, especially considering how much WordPress and WooCommerce have evolved since then. It’s very likely that some of the plugin’s code is now deprecated, which not only increases the risk of conflicts like the one you’re experiencing but also poses potential security vulnerabilities for your site.

I strongly recommend deactivating and removing the outdated plugin to help protect your site and maintain stability.

@mosesmedh that makes sense. Thank you.

This is another error I am finding.

[14-Apr-2025 10:07:05 UTC] what does this mean

    Hi @richard_vc,

As this is a new issue, please create a separate topic for it. This helps keep the forum organized and makes it easier for others to find relevant solutions.
