When I go to import my latest podcast episode, all of my previous episodes are duplicated and I have to manually delete the extra episodes which takes time to do. As I release more episodes, this problem is going to get extremely time-consuming. I saw where another user mentioned this over a year ago in the forum and there was a solution to do what I’ve been doing which is to manually delete them.
Are there any updates or workarounds to this situation? Thanks in advance!
The import tool is design to import your episodes once when you install a plugin. It means you need to create the new episodes on your website, and use the plugin’s feed in all podcast services. Could you please describe your current podcast distribution process? What feed do you use?
Hi Serhiy, Thanks for the response and please pardon my delay in getting back to you.
i did’t realize I had to be logged in to the forum to reply to your message.
After recording an episode, I upload it to Spotify. I use the RSS feed from Spotify (
https://anchor.fm/s/f528134c/podcast/rss) in the Import section of the SSP plugin in WordPress and hit “Begin Import Now”. When it is done I can see all of the episodes imported but when I go to Podcasting/All Episodes in the WordPress menu, I see the duplicates. You can see in the screenshot where the episodes are duplicated. Am I importing the latest episode incorrectly? Thanks for your help.
P.S. I originally wrote this response on April 16th. I have since learned that I’m not supposed to import the feed every time I have a new episode but I still don’t have a solution.
I feel like I’m doing something wrong because the player plugin is set for the “Latest Episode” but the feed is not updating to actually play my latest episode.
Thanks for your response. As mentioned earlier, you’ll need to publish your episodes on your site first, and provide your site’s feed to Spotify so it can automatically display the episodes. You can look into the similar thread here – https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/post-new-episodes-published-at-spotify/
So, in your case you: 1. Import episodes from the Spotify’s feed (already done). It should be done just once. 2. Provide Spotify the site’s feed. It should be done just once. 3. Create a new episode on your site. 4. Make sure it was automatically published on Spotify.
@zahardoc Serhiy, thank you! I finally understood what you meant by creating a new episode on my site and uploading either the mp3/mp4 file of the show or a link to the file. I used Archive.org to turn my mp3 into a link and then put that link into the “Episode File” area.
I didn’t have to provide the RSS Feed to Spotify. I was going to make individual episode pages anyway. So even though this involves an extra step of converting the mp3 file into a link, it does force me to build out the “New Episode” page and get it ready for SEO as well.
Thank you again for helping me to solve this headache and thank you @amongthestones for chiming in on the other post with this solution of re-creating the episode on the website…
I have been trying to figure this out since November!!!! 🙂
Have a great day!
