duplicator not creating packages

So I’ve used duplicator for years now, a really great plugin. But today I’ve got an odd problem. I just updated the plugin and as is my usual before updating the wordpress version itself, went to make a backup. But it’s unable to build packages now. It just spins at 0% for several minutes before giving up. Note that this is on a host and setup on which I have done multiple/many package builds previously. Thoughts? I mean it’s giving me a bunch of troubleshooting tips (which is very nice) but none of them address the fact that there doesn’t seem to be *any* building happening (ie, there’s no 1%… 10% etc on the percentage update. I checked here for anything similar, but didn’t spot any? I scanned the apache logs for any further clues but didn’t spot anything.
