Dynamic Watermarking

Ignoring the performance issues, is there still a method for dynamic watermarking? I have seen mention of it in some documentation…most likely some older versions perhaps. If using the new method and you revert to backups, you also lose the tags (and perhaps other information) that have been added/customized since the images were originally uploaded. If all other information, aside from the image data were preserved, then I wouldn’t mind using the seemingly current “permanent” method…
