Hi, I am testing out the email digest feature…

How can I set it so that my uncategorized messages do not get sent out without altering the PHP files sp they don’t get nuked on every update.

A friend of mine uses jetpack and his posts have the tags and categories listed while mine does not. I do not understand why. Can anyone help here?

    Hi @sjgold,

I’m going to answer your questions one by one as follows πŸ™‚

How can I set it so that my uncategorized messages do not get sent out without altering the PHP files sp they don’t get nuked on every update.

To do this, you can use a filter. We have it on this page for you to grab – look for the “jetpack_subscriptions_exclude_these_categories: Exclude certain categories from ever emailing to subscribers.” section.

I’d suggest using also a plugin like Code Snippets for adding such buts of code: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/code-snippets/

Could you post your site URL here, so I can have a look?

    Hi @sjgold

You should be able to set those to display via the Customizer in Appearance > Customize > Content Options, as shown:

    https://d.pr/i/04idWH

This may be theme dependent though, so if you don’t see those options you’d need to contact your theme author or try an alternative theme.

Those setting indeed were not in the customizer.
I have contacted the theme designer after you responded to me. They have only said they do not understand what settings I am referring too which I clarified but they have not gotten back to me about it πŸ™

After running around with the theme developer (Tie-Labs Jannah Theme) They stated they have not removed anything (even though it is not there) they do not affect Jet Pack functionality. And have told me I need to implement this in the child functions.php or a plugin like snippets (which I use). I said I would ask…

    Hi there

Sorry for the confusion. If your theme doesn’t have built in support for Jetpack’s content options, then you’ll need to add support for it, by adding the first code snippet from that page:
    https://jetpack.com/support/content-options/

You can add this code using a code snippets plugin as described here:
    https://jetpack.com/support/adding-code-snippets/

    Hope that helps!

So I implemented the code and put check marks as you sugested categories are now showing up but tags are still not showing up.

Do you see the content options in the customizer?

Have you tested it with another theme to make sure it’s not caused by a conflict with the theme you’re using?

    (@sjgold)

Yes the new options do show up in the customizer and they are active.
I have not tested with a different theme. I will try that and get back to you.

    That sounds like a plan.

No need to reply until you’ve had a chance to try with another theme, but once you do, please let us know the results and we can help from there. Thanks!
