    Hello,
I updated 2 plugins an hour ago, and I immediately lost the access to my WordPress admin site. I then received an email from WordPress saying that the issue was caused by Updraft Plus (which was not part of the updated extensions).

I tried all the plugins one by one to see which one was causing the error. When I deactivated Updraft Plus, everything came back to normal. What can I do now?

You’ll find below the details of the error (Translation from French of the first sentence: “An E_ERROR type error was caused in line 163 of the file /homepages/19/d4296850328/htdocs/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/options.php. Many thanks for your help!
    Elise

  • Hello,

Thank you for the information, may I ask which plugins you updated just before the issue occurred?

    Hello,
It was Simply Schedule Appointment and Gravity Forms.
But I tried them both (deactivate, reactivate), and the site didn’t react to any of them. And the WordPress email only mentioned Updraft Plus.

    Hello,

Thank you for confirming, would it be possible for you to share a redacted version of your site health information from WordPress >> Tools >> Site Health >> Info >> Copy site info to clipboard via pastebin.com please?

    Hello,
I’d love to, but I’m unable to create an account on pastebin.com. The site has a problem. I tried with 3 different email addresses and I never received any activation email. I requested that they send me new ones, but got each time an error message saying that they were unable to do so….
Is there another way to provide you with the site health information ?
    Thank you

Can you paste upload it to something like We Transfer or to some remote storage and then provide the link?

Do you have a backup of your plugins that I could test with (if you do, can you upload them to something like WeTransfer)

    Hello,
Yes, here’s the link to the last Updraft Plus backup of the plugins

Thank you I have tested the plugins.

I think the issue was simply that you had an outdated version of UpdraftPlus installed (we are on 1.24.1 so you are 13 updates behind)

    Hello,
13 versions behind?! My god, thank you for the information. I don’t know how I could miss this. I make sure to update my plugins as soon as there’s an update available, or I have an automatic update set up…
Could you tell me the steps I should follow to update the latest version of the plugin without the website crashing again ? It’s still deactivated for the moment.
    Thank you

You can turn on automatic updates on the installed plugins page or you can use one of our other plugins: Easy update manager: https://en-gb.ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/stops-core-theme-and-plugin-updates/

My advice would be to just delete the version you have installed and install a fresh copy from the WordPress repository
