    It’s not the position:absolute that is causing this but the z-index of the wrapping <header> tag: 

    header {
 height: 190px;
 position: relative;
 z-index: 99999999;
}

    Remove that and the issue disappears…

    Now, I don’t know why that z-index is needed at all (maybe the menu mouse-over effects?) but if you absolutely need a z-index for any header or menu objects, try to keep it under 1000. Like so:

    header {
 height: 190px;
 position: relative;
 z-index: 999;
}

    And then, of course, adjust all other z-index values related to this one accordingly 🙂
