Hi there,
I currently maintain about 200 WordPress installations. All of them are sites from clients and the corresponding themes are handcrafted from scratch to fit the needs of the clients. I moved half of those sites from static html files or other CMSes.
Moving to WordPress means for the clients to be able to edit and extend a site easily. (As long as the coder has done a good job in developing the theme…)
So my suggestion would be: yes, he should move! 🙂
Regards,
Marcus
Thanks Marcus
He IS going to move. I already have my own site, but he is looking for a simple 2 page theme (1 static, one with gigs) that he could look after easily and install easily

I am simply looking for suggestions for a really simple wp theme with a static front page and a page for gig lists.
A friend has asked me as I already have a wp site, but i don’t have the time to plough through everything that’s currently available – hence my question

Other than “Try one of these” there’s not much anyone can/should opine on.

These aren’t opinion forums, they’re support forums as in “I tried X and it didn’t do what I thought it would. Also the building burnt down, what did I do wrong?”
This topic isn’t that. Have you considered joining a site that may be more along those lines? Here’s 2 sites that that may be more palatable.

Note: I’m not an admin or moderator in either place and I’ve never posted there. I’m pretty sure this would be OK there but I may also be completely wrong. I’m not wrong about this place though. 😉
If something breaks, then yes. Please do ask here. If you’re looking for discussion then that’s not for here. Please consider one of those other sites instead.
